1010 Music's blackbox 2 is a compact, battery–powered sampling studio built for producers who need a complete DAWless creative environment. Packed into a unit weighing just 1.25 lbs and measuring 8.75 × 6.5 × 2.75 inches, this sampler offers twice the processing power of its predecessor alongside a high–resolution 4 inch colour touchscreen. The core appeal lies in its five instrument types–Shredder, One–Shot, Loop, Slicer, and Multisampled–giving musicians a serious toolkit for beat–chopping, sequencing, and live performance without a laptop.

The blackbox 2 features four flexible tracks supporting any combination of instrument types, with One–Shot and Loop modes each holding 16 samples per patch. Recording capabilities span real–time capture with audio threshold triggering, automatic multisampling for synth integration, and sessions up to 4 hours in length stored on microSD. Connectivity includes USB–C ports for multichannel audio streaming and MIDI controller attachment, three stereo outputs plus headphones out, and both TRS and 24 PPQ analogue clock I/O. The three–hour internal battery enables field production, whilst the 24–bit ADC/DAC ensures transparent sampling fidelity. Sequencing options span step, piano roll, and grid modes with probability editing, plus new Loop Groups for synced playback of multiple loops simultaneously.

Live performers benefit from Song mode for complete arrangements, Scene launching for interactive section triggering, and a dedicated DJ effects suite featuring filter, echo, gater, flanger, bitcrusher and repeater with XY pad control. The four–band EQ offers cut, shelf, and parametric settings per band, whilst internal resampling and a modulation matrix with multiple filters and LFOs support sound design beyond sample playback.
