The Zoom iQ7 brings professional mid-side stereo recording capabilities directly to your Lightning-equipped iOS device, making studio-quality audio capture possible anywhere inspiration strikes. This compact condenser microphone features a large front-facing MIC GAIN knob for precise input control and three-segment LED level metres that prevent signal overload whilst ensuring clean, crisp recordings. The dedicated headphone jack doubles as a line output, allowing real-time monitoring during both recording and playback sessions.

Built with versatility in mind, the iQ7’s rotating mechanism maintains proper left-right stereo orientation for both audio-only recordings and video projects. The advanced mid-side recording technique utilises two microphone elements: a directional “mid” mic capturing front-facing audio and a bidirectional “side” mic picking up ambient sound from both sides. A three-way switch lets you choose between 90° for focused centre recording, 120° for wider ambient capture, or “M-S” mode for raw recording that allows post-production stereo width adjustment using Zoom’s free Handy Recorder iOS app.

The included extended Lightning connector and removable spacer ensure compatibility with most iPhone, iPad, and iPod cases, so you can record without removing your device’s protection. Beyond Zoom’s own Handy Recorder app—which offers overdubbing, waveform editing, multiple file formats, onboard effects, and SoundCloud integration—the iQ7 works seamlessly with popular iOS applications including Apple’s Voice Memo and GarageBand, plus various music recording, voice recognition, and streaming apps that support external microphone input and multiple sampling rates up to 48kHz.
